Just saw this posted on a Red Sox forum (went there to see if they were whining over the Jays supposedly signing BJ Ryan).
WSCR 670 in Chicago is reporting that the Cubs are close to acquiring Juan Pierre from the Marlins for three prospects. One would be left-hander Renyel Pinto. According to the report, center fielder Felix Pie wouldn't be involved. Another expendable reliever probably would be. Roberto Novoa or Jermaine Van Buren could help the Marlins.
Could it be? I hope so, and someone buy Patterson his El ticket out of town. And not giving up Pie is key. Nobody should ever give up a player with a name like Felix Pie. |

Yeah, so it's pretty sweet. Perfect Dark Zero looks incredible on my Sammy DLP in 720p. Kameo is also awesome, yet too easy. I'm already halfway through the game after about 4.5 hours. I will say that MS has quite the scam going on with their controllers, $50 for a wireless controller plus another $12 to get a rechargeable battery ($18 if you actually want to charge it). Still, it looks great, even if the current games are lacking in creativity. Plus my shelf is no longer buckling over the strain of holding up El Gigante, the original XBox.
Still, I find myself compelled to play Mario Kart DS... Nothing like 32 tracks of web-enabled mayhem (well, only 20 online, but still...). |

It is now officially not happening next year. |

Wow. Even though I'm not a true "fan" of the team, I'm happy for the White Sox. They play a good brand of baseball, and they kicked the shit out of those candy-ass Astros. Players like Podsednik, Rowand, and Uribe and just fun to watch.
I spent last night at Buffalo Wild Wings with about 20 friends and hundreds of other fans. And I've never seen anything like it. The electricity in the air was amazing. Free gifts were flowing from the bar. It was like being in a room with 300 siblings.
Which brings me to my point. The Baseball Gods have smiled upon Boston. They've smiled upon the South Side. But they haven't smiled upon the Cubs. They are the only "cursed" team left. 2004 was the year of the Bambino. 2005 for the Black Sox. Natural progression only means that next year will be for the Goat.
Of course, I'm just deluding myself (just like every year), but it's going to happen. I can feel it. Maybe it's the lack of sleep, but I truly believe that something special is happening in baseball, and having the Cubs win is the only way to top what's already happened.
Can you imagine Chicago this time next year? |

| | Earshot - Wait | ] | So yeah, I've got a journal now. Don't know how often I'll update, but if anything cool/funny/whatever happens, I'll let everyone know.
Mostly I'm doing this because I googled my own name and got Beal's blog asking if I had fallen off the face of the planet (hint: I haven't). So I emailed him and set up this newfangled thingy.
So, here I am. Ask away.
